A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to the beautiful Allgäu region in the state of Bavaria in Germany to shoot the wedding of Genia and Franz.

It must have been about 5 years ago, when I met Genia at the Magikvanilla Surfcamp in Ericeira/Portugal. The camp had just  opened its doors and hosted guests from different backgrounds, from all over Europe.

Even though we had had a great week surfing together – as is often the case – we did not manage to stay in touch afterwards.

About one year ago though, I was shooting a corporate event, when somebody suddenly tapped me on the shoulder. It just so happened to be Genia who, as it turned out, was working for the company I was shooting for that day.

We had a little chat before I had to get back to work. When a couple of months later she contacted me, asking whether I’d be interested in shooting her wedding day. At first I was somewhat hesitant, as I had not shot a wedding before and being a wedding photographer meant a lot of responsibility. Naturally, I did not want to disappoint Genia and her husband-to-be.

Well, in the end I did take Genia up on her offer and I did not regret it one bit. I had an absolute blast!

As such, I want to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to Genia and Franz for allowing me to play a part in their beautiful wedding which, allowed me to take my first steps into wedding photography. So here they are: my very first wedding pictures!
